Harmony

There is a unique harmony in the Bible.  Compare, for example, the first two and the last two chapters:

*  In Genesis the earth is created;
*  In Revelation it passes away.

*  In Genesis the sun and moon appear;
*  In Revelation there is no need of the sun or moon.

*  In Genesis there is a garden, the home of a man;
*  In Revelation there is a city, the home of the nations.

*  In Genesis we are introduced to Satan;
*  In Revelation we see his doom.

*  In Genesis we hear the first sob and see the first tear;
* In Revelation we read:  "God shall wife away all tears from their eyes."

*  In Genesis the curse is pronounced;
*  In Revelation we read: "There shall be no more curse."

He Maketh No Mistake

My Father's way may twist and turn,
My heart may throb and ache,
But in my soul I'm glad I know
He maketh no mistake.

My cherished plans may go awry,
My hopes may fade away,
But still I'll trust my Lord to lead
For He doth know the way.

Tho' the night be dark, and it may seem
That day will never break;
I'll pin my faith, my all in Him,
He maketh no mistake.

There's so much now I cannot see,
My eyesight's far too dim;
But come what may, I'll simply trust
And leave it all to Him.

For by and by the mist will lift
And plain it all He'll make,
Through all the way, tho' dark for me
He made not one mistake.

I Caught Your Faith

I saw you stand bravely for years,
But saw no trace of senseless fears;
I saw you stand calmly through stress

But caught no glimpse of bitterness.

I saw you stand prayerfully in grief,
But saw no trace of unbelief,
Though you spake well of Jesus Christ,
I caught your faith watching your life.

My America
You ask me what America,
My country, means to Me?
I'll turn the pages of her past
And tell you what I see.

I see that little pilgrim band
Who fled a tyrant's rod,
And brought to these fair, virgin shores
My right to worship God.

I see them tame her wilderness,
And cultivate her soil.
I see them carve a nation out
Of tears and faith and toil.

I see great cities spreading out,
I hear the spin of wheels,
I see her super-structures grow;
Her quickening pulse I feel.

I see a lady with a lamp
Held high for all to see.
Pray God that light shall always shine.
The torch of liberty.

She says to all the weary world,
"Give me your poor, your old,
Your weary, and your homeless, too,
I offer hope untold."

I hear the guns at Valley Forge,
Now sleep the valiant there.
I see the marks, where in the snow
A general knelt in prayer.

I see the hearty pioneers
With faces toward the sun,
Move ever westward, 'til at last
An Empire's length they won.

When I think of Fort McHenry
My soul is thrilled anew,
To know above the battle strife
The Stars and Stripes still flew.

I see the graves at Gettysburg,
A figure gaunt I see
In tall black hat and shawl, whose pen
Gave life and liberty.

But most of all, I think, my friend,
America to me
Means life and love and happiness,
The knowledge that I'm free.

Yes, free to hold my head erect,
To look men in the eye.
I'm free to praise the God I love,
And for this right, I'll die

I would not change America
For lands across the sea.
I only pray that in her need,
She turns, O God, to Thee.
