The Radio Bible Hour is one of the oldest Baptist radio ministries in the United States. Started in 1935 by J. Harold Smith, it celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2010. It produces radio programs based on the recorded sermons of J. Harold Smith and is heard on about 50 radio outlets in the U.S. During his lifetime, J. Harold Smith served as a pastor and evangelist. His ministry was Bible-based and traditionally conservative Southern Baptist. Dr. J. Harold Smith was known for his powerful preaching and compassionate pastoral care.

MAJOR CHANGES FOR THE SMITH CENTER: We have been listening to feedback from students, and here are some of the things we are hearing.
1. Most do not want to start over with the courses they have already taken. 2. There is an interest in more “new” courses on topics not covered so far, such as Church Business Management, Pastoring a ‘Small’ Church, Church Renewal, Pastoral Care (care for the sick, grieving, pastoral counseling, etc) , Church Renewal, Leadership, Conflict Resolution, Church Discipline, as well as more focused courses on issues of doctrine, focused studies on particular books of the Bible, etc.
Here is what we are thinking:
Rather than continuing with a multi-year schedule, we will offer three courses per year. In order to break even, we will have to have a minimum number of paying students.
If there is not enough interest, we will have to cancel the course. Course fees will need to be collected at the beginning of the semester.
Upon successful completion of each course, the registered and paying students will receive a certificate for each course taken.
We are CANCELING THE FIRST COURSE that was to begin in August, but will offer new courses beginning in October. Topics will be announced.
The graduation is still scheduled and we are excited to see many of you walk across the stage on August 30 at 6pm at First Baptist Church of Morristown. See you then!
